“Devon…” James whispered, holding her closely to him.

His lips moved against her, lightly exploring, inviting her to do the same, and when she began to follow his lead, his mouth slanted over hers with fierce tenderness while his hand cupped the back of her head, his fingers sliding tantalizingly against her nape stroking her sensitive skin. His arm encircling her waist, sensually stroked her back, moving her tightly to him.

He kissed her endlessly, long drugging kisses that shook her to the core of her being. Lost in a sea of pure sensation as his lips tasted and courted hers, Devon slid her hands up his hard chest and wrapped her arms around his neck, clinging to him for support, unconsciously molding her body to his length. The moment she did, the enticer became the enticed. Desire exploded in James’ body, and the girl in his arms became a beguiling, sensuous woman. Automatically, he deepened the kiss, his mouth moving with hungry urgency…

When he finally pulled his mouth from hers an eternity later, their breaths were coming in mingled gasps. Feeling almost bereft, Devon surfaced slightly from the sensual oblivion where he had sent her, and forced her heavy eyelids to open so that she could look at him. Standing so close to each other, he lifted his hand and tenderly brushed a lock of hair off her cheek, and he tried to smile, but his breathing was as ragged as hers. He rained kisses across her cheek towards her ear and whispered, “I’ve been meaning and wanting to do that since I first saw you by the cove.”

Unaware of the effort he was making to keep their passion under control, Devon dropped her gaze to his finely shaped mouth, and she watched him draw an unsteady breath. “Don’t,” he warned her in a husky, tender voice, “look at my mouth unless you want me to kiss you again.”

Devon looked up at his passion-filled eyes and was drawn to their sensual, tender depths. She tightened her hold on him and pulled his head down, lowering his mouth to hers. The spell began again and sent the both of them to a wild, indescribable feeling of sweetness.

It was a warm, cloudless night. Water gushing out from the fountain where a couple was sitting nearby on a blanket. James shifted his sitting position to lay his head on Devon’s lap and took her hand in his, placing it near his heart. Devon looked down and smiled, combing his hair with her other hand.

“This is perfect… heaven to be exact.” James said, closing his eyes, grinning widely like a child who had received a candy.

Devon laughed and playfully tapped his forehead. James caught her hand and gave each finger a smacking kiss. Devon amused at his behavior, just smiled down at him. She never expected that they would be here like this together. Even less that they would see each other again. When Devon remembered the furious expression of James awhile ago, she became serious.

“James, I think you should apologize to Sam. You were too harsh on him earlier.”

“Why should I? He asked for it. He shouldn’t have made a move on you.” James said stubbornly, eyes closed.

“What are you talking about? We’re just friends.”

“Is that what you call friends… looking at you like you’re some kind of delicious morsel.”

“James!” Devon exclaimed, pinching James’ cheek.

“Ouch! You don’t know how much it hurts.”

“You should apologize. I mean it, not only to Sam but to my team as well.”

“Fine. But give me a kiss first.” James bargained, opening his eyes, looking wickedly at her.

“Alright, fine.” Devon agreed. James sat up, facing her. Devon cupped his face and gave him a resounding kiss. She was about to pull back when James imprisoned her in a tight embrace and kissed her, tempting her to kiss him back. Devon was helplessly brought back to the sensual, primitive, forbidden paradise. The night became warmer under the starry, cloudless sky, where two lovers lost in each other’s embrace.

Another morning came for the people in the heavenly island. People are busily roaming the shops. Unknown to others, a couple was saying goodbye to a friend.

“Goodbye, Sam. Thank you for everything.” Devon said, smiling. She looked at the man beside her and poked him by the rib, telling him to say something.

“Goodbye.” James said with a small nod. Sam smiled returning the nod, and faced Devon.

“I hope we’ll be seeing each other again.”

Upon seeing the smiles of the two, James possessively put an arm around Devon’s waist.

Sam saw the smooth move and looked at James amused.

“You take care of her. She’s a precious gem hard to find.” Sam said and genuinely smiled at the both of them and walked away.

Devon fully turned to James with furrowed brows.

“You could have been nicer to him.”

“I was being nice.”

Devon found the statement rather preposterous that she just rolled her eyes at him. James chuckled and chucked her by the chin.

“By the way, I’ll be returning back to Australia this weekend. I have some business to attend to. Don’t worry. My real secretary will be here at the same day. If you need anything just ask her. She’s very competent. You’ll both get along well.”

“Okay.” Devon said with disappointment in her voice. James heard it and hugged her comfortingly.

“Don’t worry. I’ll be back before you know it. I’ll just be gone for 3-4 days.” James explained and kissed her forehead.

“I’m gonna miss you.” Devon expressed, looking up at him with longing in her eyes.

“I will miss you more.” James responded and kissed her passionately on the lips.

A day before James’ departure, Devon was busy helping James pack his things. James took a shower while Devon continued packing his things. Just when she was about to close the luggage, James’ phone rang on the bedside table. She took the phone and glanced at the door, checking if James was done. She looked at the cellphone and saw the caller… Dad. She hesitated if she should answer the call or not. And decided to answer it.

“Hello?”

“Hello? Who is this? Isn’t this James’ phone?”

“Yes, it is. But, he’s in the shower at the moment. This is Devon Gutierrez.”

“Oh Ms. Gutierrez, this is James’ Dad. I’ve heard a lot of good things about you from Sam.” The man on the other line said with a smile in his voice.

“Oh…” Devon didn’t know what to say. “Do you want to leave a message for James?”

“Just tell him I called and that I want to talk to him. I’m in the Philippines right now. I’m coming there to Boracay for a visit.”

“Okay. But, he will be on a business trip to Australia tomorrow morning.”

“Oh, I see. Can I just talk to you then? Besides, I want to meet the girl who made a big difference to my son’s life.” Mr. Force said with a teasing voice.

“Oh… uhm, thank you... I- I’ll tell James that you called.” Devon shyly replied.

“Please do. I’ll see you at lunch tomorrow.”

“Okay… bye, sir.”

“Bye.”

Devon hung up the phone and sat down at the edge of the bed. She was confused whether she did the right thing by accepting the invitation of James’ dad considering the conflict between the father and son. She was debating whether to tell James that his dad called or just keep it a secret from him. She was considering the cons and pros of the idea of meeting his father when the door of the bath room opened.
